04_NYJ2_Fans95_49853Any football betting fan that’s seen or heard anything about the defending Super Bowl champion Steelers this year is that the defense has crumbled late in every game so far this year, hence the mediocre 2-2 record.  And while that football betting statement is not entirely untrue the teams multiple fourth quarter meltdowns have as much to do with the offense as the defense.

True, any time you lose a player like S Troy Polamalu, it’s going to hurt your performance in the football betting.  Polamalu is especially important to the blitz-crazy Steelers because he’s a giant safety valve that allows the Steelers to pressure the QB knowing he’ll clean up any mistakes deep down the field. Is Denver Legit?

October 5th, 2009 by Shawn Mickelson No comments

broncosNo team had a rockier football betting offseason than the Denver Broncos. With all the turmoil this team went through with the firing of Mike Shannahan, the jettisoning of franchise QB Jay Cutler, the Brandon Marshall saga and the uncertainty of hiring a 32-year old inexperienced head coach seemed to spell disaster for the franchise.

But after three weeks of regular season action it’s clear that –until proven otherwise- the NFC West is still the worst division in the NFL.

Through three weeks of football betting the division has a league worst four wins between its four teams. It doesn’t take a genius to do the math on that one, but for the numerically impaired that’s an average record of 1-2 for each team. Read more…

james-harrisonA Super Bowl Trophy and nickel will get you a cup of coffee and little more these days of football betting in the NFL as repeating as league champs has proven a more and more daunting task in the free agent era. The football betting odds were against the Steelers repeating as football champs and their 1-2 record through three games is any indication than it’s going to a long season.

After losing in the closing minutes to the Bears last week it seemed as though that poorly played game might serve as a wake-up call for the champs. Wrong. They played with the same lack of urgency Sunday against an under-rated Bengals squad that proved hungrier and more effective when it needed to be. Read more…
