Are the Ravens the Best Team in Football?

September 28th, 2009 Shawn Mickelson No comments

Big chanravens1ge is underway in Baltimore.   There was a time when Ravens football sports betting was synonymous with teeth-rattling defense and excruciatingly dull –if ineffective- offense.  Thanks to the emergence of Joe Flacco the latter is a thing of the past and with its new found balance this team just might be the best in football betting.

Last year this team was a pleasant sports betting surprise and if it wasn’t for playing in the same division as the Pittsburgh Steelers this team might have made a lot of noise in the pro football wagering post season.  With a rookie head coach and a QB pressed in to action due to injury this offense flourished.  With a year of experience and continuity under their belts both Flacco and Coach Harbaugh are thriving. Chargers Host the “Wild Cat” Dolphins

The Chargers and Dolphins both enter this week three match up coming off tough last minute losses. The only difference is that the Chargers have the talent to bounce back and get a win whereas the Dolphin’s road just seems to get more difficult.

wildcatAt 0-2 the Dolphins are off to the same exact start as they were a year ago, a season in which the team finished a surprising 11-5. But last year they had the easiest schedule in football betting; this year they have the hardest. Even playing a near flawless game at home wasn’t enough to win against the Colts on Monday night and they’ll most likely have to be perfect to beat the Bolts on the road. Read more…

Brady is Still the Best

tom-brady-pointing-finger-iiFootball sports betting fans know that if there was any doubt that Tom Brady was still the best QB in the league it most likely vanished after his superman performance on Monday night.  In a game that the home team Patriots deserved to lose to by almost any account, Brady’s individual effort and an untimely fumble is all that prevented New England from opening the season 0-1.

Brady completed 39 of his 53 pass attempts for 378 yards and two TDs.  His day was marred only by a spectacular one-handed interception that was run back for a TD by a Buffalo DE.  It ranked right alongside Drew Brees and his six TDs as the best throwing games of week one football betting.

So now that that no one in sports betting doubts Brady, there is plenty to be paranoid about when it comes to New England’s defense.  To gut out a 25-24 win over a solid team like the Giants or Steelers would be one thing.  But to go down to the wire against the Buffalo Bills is quite another. Jay Cutler’s Happy Return to Denver

September 1st, 2009 Dan Closson No comments

DallDenver+BroncosJay Cutler returned to his old home, Invesco field in Denver, but this time with a new team, the Chicago Bears. The Bears dealt the Denver Broncos a heavy defeat with a 27-17 win. Cutler was traded from the Broncos to the Bears in the offseason in a move that included the former Chicago quarterback, Kyle Orton who heads the Denver offense and now faces his old team.

The scoreboard opened up in the first quarter in the Broncos’ favor with a 31 yard field goal by kicker Matt Prater. Still, Chicago tied pretty soon after with a 40 yard field goal of their own by Robbie Gould. In the second quarter, the Bears took off for the lead with two touchdowns, the first one a product of a one yard carry by Matt Forte, and the second with a 6 yard pass by Cutler, also to Forte.
