Are the Bengals a Playoff Contender?

leon-hallLast Sunday the Cincinnati Bengals pulled off the franchise’s biggest football betting win in the past four years. Not since the team qualified for the playoffs in 2005 season has it tasted a win as sweet as the one the one against the defending Super Bowl football betting champs and AFC North arch-rivals Steelers. It was an impressive win and tongues have been wagging.

Is this Bengals squad a playoff team worthy of sports betting on?

That’s a good question and one that many football betting fans are starting to take seriously. The team is now 2-1 and could very easily be 3-0 were it not for the miraculous last second play by the Broncos in week 1.

It’s much too early to call any team a playoff contender but the Bengals look much improved over the squad that has floundered in pro football wagering over the past few years. Carson Palmer looks to be back in Pro Bowl form for the first time since blowing out his knee in the playoffs vs. Pittsburgh. Cedric Benson and the running game have been on track and the defense, especially the secondary look a whole new unit.

Making the playoffs might be a stretch, especially in the physically abusive AFC North, but the Bengals certainly have a shot. With the Steelers floundering and the Ravens facing a very tough game in New England this weekend, Cincy could very easily find itself tied for first in the division heading into week 5.

And any team with a division lead in week 5 has a shot at making the post season.
