Titans Give Young His Chance

October 30th, 2009 Steve Spelman No comments

The career path of former U of Texas QB and first round football betting pick Vince Young has been a rocky one. Just four years into his pro career this guy has experienced quite a lot in the league except winning. And so the news of Nashville that he will be the team’s starter in week 8 is less than inspiring for many Titans fans.

But at the same time there is little resistance from the fan base considering that the team is 0-7 in the football betting action this season. And when your choice is between bad (Kerry Collins) and terrible (Young) what have you got to lose by trying something different in the sports betting action. It can’t be any worse right? Read more…

Bengals will not sneak up on anyone

It’s almost as if the last three football betting years never took place for the Cincinnati Bengals. Remember back to 2005 when the team won the AFC North in the regular season and was one of the Super Bowl sports betting favorites heading into the playoffs before losing Carson Palmer with a gruesome knee injury? Well after three years of discord and failure the team is right back where it was before Palmer’s injury and maybe even better.

This is a good year to be a football betting fan of the Bengals. The team has been the proper picture of dysfunction over the past few seasons but two big major developments have catapulted this team to the top of the division standings and into the position of a sports betting contender for the Super Bowl. Saints are the Undisputed Best Team through Week 7

October 26th, 2009 Steve Spelman No comments

Sunday could have been a very bad day to be a Saints football betting fan. After watching their team fall into a 24-3 hole in the first half of their game against the Dolphins it seemed as if the undefeated run was over the team from New Orleans would come crashing back to earth.

But Drew Brees and the defense seemed to have missed that memo as they marched the team back in the second half and capped off an extraordinary comeback football betting win. Read more…

Hines Ward is the Inexplicable Receiving Leader through Week 6

October 23rd, 2009 Dan Closson No comments

Hines Ward is not a young man. Yet in his 12th football betting season in the NFL and his thirty-third year on the planet he is still experiencing new things. The Super Bowl MVP has achieved many things during his storied career and set numerous team records but he’s never led the league in receiving, something that he is doing for the very first time this year.

At an age when most WR’s best football betting days are behind them Hines seems to be getting better. Like a fine wine he’s getting better with age and with a pass first mentality developing in Pittsburgh his number should only continue to get better. Read more…

Jets in a Downward Spiral

October 22nd, 2009 Shawn Mickelson No comments

Long gone are the heady days of September when it seemed as if the New York Jets might just be the best team in football betting. Rookie head coach Rex Ryan was a defensive genius and young Mark Sanchez was the second coming of Joe Willie Namath. It’s funny the amount of football betting perspective that three short weeks can provide.

Ryan is still a very good defensive mind and Sanchez does resemble Namath in at least one respect –and nearly surpassed the hall of famer’s single game mark for INTs- but this team is nowhere near among the best in sports betting. In fact, this team isn’t even the best in the division (third best, probably) or even in its city. The Jets soared to a perfect 3-0 record and has since dropped as many games and planed out to a 3-3 record. Read more…
